Following my previous posts here's the solution from Vauxhall's internal knowledgebase TIS2000 named Field Remedy: 2006. The follwing procedures should only be carried out by a trained Vauhall Technician who has diagnosed the problem.
APPLIES TO
Vauxhall Engine Z20LET
SYMPTOMS
Intermittent 'spanner over car' service light illumination. Poor idle and stall on idle. Inconsistent boost pressures and running rich.
Error codes possibly stored in ECU:
TC P1106 (Boost Pressure Sensor Circuit) or (Boost Pressure Control Device Malfunction)
PROBLEM
Poor crimped earth connection in the fuel injection wiring harness
SOLUTION
The section of the fuel injection wiring harness to be worked on is located under the air intake for the turbo intercooler to the right of the engine block. It is a loom covered by insulating tape, cloth tape and a plastic sheath. The existing earth connection must be separated and cut out from the loom and replaced. The existing earth connection consists of 4 wires heat shrink crimped together. This connection is the faulty connection. Cut out the crimped connection leaving 4 open ended earth wires. Reconnect the 4 wires as before using new crimps and heat shrink. Resheath the loom using insulating tape, the same cloth tape and the same platsic sheath.
PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the battery
2. Remove the airintake pipe for the turbo intercooler
3. Locate the fuel injection wiring harness to the right of the engine block, to the left and below the battery tray
4. Find the point on the harness where an earth shoots off and is connected to the engine block
5. Unsheath this part of the harness by removing the plastic sheath, cloth tape and insulating tape to view the separate wires of the loom
6. Locate and separate the existing earth connection from the rest of the loom
7. Cut out the existing earth connection leaving 4 seperate earth wires
8. Reconnect the 4 earth wires as before using new crimps and heat shrink
9. Resheath the harness by using insulating tape, the same cloth tape and the same plastic sheath
10. Replace the airintake pipe for the turbo intercooler
11. Reconnect the battery
