I could not detect any improved performance from the new inlet manifold. Bear in mind I had already superglued open the swirl flaps on the old one.
I then refurbished the old inlet manifold and completely removed the swirl flaps, filling in the spindle holes with aluminium weld but this could have been done with epoxy.
I then ported the inlet manifold, removed the newish inlet manifold (which is now for sale) and replaced with the original which operates without EGR and totally without any swirl function.
During this period the car has been tuned from 150 bhp standard or whatever it was to 269 bhp and over 400 ft.lbs. When the power is not being used the economy is still good but I ignore the digital dashboard readout as it is totally inaccurate, currently showing 58 mpg but nearer 45 mpg I would guess because obviously the fuel rail pressure has been increased to further compound the inaccuracy of the on board computer.
I understand it is possible to fine tune the on board computer to make it accurate but I have not yet found someone that can do this.
